FESTIVAL OVERVIEW

The Other Israel Film Festival fosters social awareness and cultural understanding through film. The annual festival presents narrative and documentary films as well as panels and events focusing on history, culture, and identity to highlight Palestinian communities and under-represented populations in Israel. Other Israel takes a deeper look and reexamines traditional narratives to reveal the human stories behind the headlines.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Subject Matter:

The Other Israel Film Festival showcases the diverse and creative work of filmmakers of any nationality exploring themes around the Palestinian community and other under-represented groups in Israel. We also seek films that more broadly provide new political and social perspective on Israeli life, and encourage filmmakers from less-represented communities to submit films.

Categories:

The Other Israel Film Festival election committee accepts all kinds of features, narratives, documentaries, shorts, and experimental films.

Exhibition Formats:

The filmmaker is responsible for supplying the festival with an exhibition copy of the film in one of the following formats: DCP and/or Pro-res (QT)

Production & Subtitling:

All films submitted to the 17th annual festival must be from the last two years. The Festival will accept submissions still in post-production, though a final, fully-mixed, subtitled, and color-corrected exhibition copy must be available by the delivery deadline in advance of the festival.

All final screening copies of the film must include English subtitles/captions.

Premiere/Release Status:

Films which have had a wide commercial theatrical, television, or online release in the U.S are not eligible for submission. Films available via commercial streaming platforms whether by subscription or pay-per-view (e.g., Netflix, Amazon, iTunes, Vudu, etc.) are ineligible. Though the Festival does not enforce any specific premiere status, films not yet exhibited in the New York City media market will receive preference over those that have already screened within the greater metropolitan area.

Submission Formats:

Submissions must be made available to the festival via online screener link. No physical media will be accepted.
