ARAB SPRING
Shout- two boys from Majdal Shams a village on the Lebanon border discuss going to Damascus for college. They go and we see what life was like in Damascus before the Arab spring. Find out  what happens to the boys. Do they stay? Do they come back? Could you anticipate what happened in Syria from this film.

ROMANCE / RELATIONSHIPS
A sort of love Story- 77 Stpes by Ibtisa'm Marana- a talented Palestinian-Israeli filmmaker falls in love with Jonathan, a Canadian Jewish immigrant. Is this a story of two star crossed lovers or are there two young people just plain not suited to each other. Judge for yourself.
FILM NOIR / THRILLER
Naomi- this is not a whodunit but a "will he get away with it" story. Plus a riddle. Find the Arab character buried inside the story. A fun movie-even the murder is fun.
THE BRITISH VERSION
The Promise- what were the British doing in Palestine- a made for the UK Channel 4 TV series that looks at the creation of Israel and it's aftermath from the perspective of the granddaughter of a former British soldier stationed in Palestine 1946-1948. Riveting.  Also mostly in English.
IDENTITY
Torn - It is not only Palestinians who find themselves conflicted as to their identity but a 65 year old Catholic priest whose biological parents were Jewish and wants to emmigrate to Israel under the law of return. The catch? He doesn’t want to become a Jew- only to live in the land of his biological forefathers. Is he entitled or not?
A Place of Her Own - The story of a troubled young woman who is saved by a kindly Arab man who loves her and gives her the family she craves. Ultimately her story is undone not by the culture clash but by her own demons in the face of a life that is unwinding.
